Codependent Blues

Hi everyone! I'm recording a quick episode for you in my office because it’s been a DAY. From the start of this community, I promised you guys real talk about the rollercoaster 🎢 of life, and today is no exception.

Alright, so my day kicks off with a bit of family drama. One of my teenagers is having a rough day, and if you've been a parent or know a thing or two about codependency, you get how it goes. When someone you love is struggling, you feel it, too. But hey, we turned the day around with a long drive and some amazing cinnamon rolls. The magic of life truly happens in the mundane moments of sugar and scenery, right?

Fast-forward to the aftermath—I'm left reflecting on the struggles of parenting and having a bunch of regrets. We wrap things up peacefully, but it takes a toll on me. I'm feeling drained and doing the whole self-reflection thing.

Now, here's the plot twist.

In the midst of feeling overwhelmed, I ask myself two crucial questions:

  1. What can I control right now?

  2. And what can make this moment better?

The unexpected answer – meal planning and prepping! I grab my phone, order groceries, and spend some productive time in the kitchen.

Around here, we talk a lot about the power of the pause, right? Well, it turns out it's a game-changer. It's not about having all the answers but finding those small actions that bring you back to center. And here's the kicker—we need to always focus on progress over perfection.

So, if you're in the thick of it, know this – tough days are part of the deal. But finding those small things that brighten up the dark moments? That's where the magic happens.

You're not alone; if you're feeling overwhelmed, a whole community is here for you. Listen in on Episode 123 about how when you’re overwhelmed, anxious, or frustrated with the people in your life that you want to help, but can’t. -Dani
