”Fear is incompatible with faith”🚫🥴💩
I heard someone say today “Fear is incompatible with faith”—I wholeheartedly (and lovingly) disagree!
Fear is very human. And we are still very human.
Fear is the gateway to faith... fear is the gateway to peace and connection and dare I even say, purpose.
Sure, lets try not to allow fear to grip or cripple us, but fear can also be the driving force to some amazing faith-filled action.
Sometimes when all we have is fear, the most amazing faith is birthed. I don’t believe it needs to be one or the other. The most beautiful times are when we can hold both and continue to soldier on and run our race.
Trying to rid ourselves of fear is like saying “don't picture a pink elephant”—what did you picture? A pink elephant right?! Of course you did! Me too.
It’s the way our mind works. If we set our minds on faith, sure fear diminishes at times.
But I just don't believe fear and faith are incompatible.
Without fear, would we really need faith anyway?
Lets allow any fears we do have to drive us to our knees and pray for each other.
The human experience is full of emotions and feelings we wish not to have, but it is very human of us to have them.
God loves YOU in your humanity, in your feelings, in your faith and even in your fears.

*I just read this to my 11 year old Zach and he said “fear empowers your faith”—I think children should be leading the way when it comes to faith.
